Our Story

Arcadia refers to a real or imaginary place offering peace and simplicity, it also refers to a vision of pastoralism and harmony with nature.

Arcadia will be an upscale restaurant and a gathering place for foodies and the community. Located between Saylorville and Big Creek Lakes in Polk City, Arcadia will be a destination for adventurous guests.

The dining room and cocktail bar will have high ceilings and large windows for natural lighting, Arcadia will offer a private room for special events. We will offer a 1000 sq ft covered patio for guests to enjoy the fresh air and everything Polk City has to offer.

Our seasonal menu is inspired by fresh ingredients, local farmers, and ever-changing flavors to present our take on modern American cuisine, our bar with have a nice selection of craft cocktails, wines, and a good selection of beer.

Born in Ames, Iowa, Mikel Nguyen began his culinary journey at a young age. His family owned and operated a restaurant specializing in traditional Vietnamese cuisine. He developed his passion for cooking by watching, learning, and helping alongside his parents and Aunt Khe. It was through these experiences that Mikel fell in love with providing guests with an unforgettable dining experience. Mikel pursued this passion at Iowa State University, where he graduated with a degree in hospitality management. He left school with one goal in mind — opening his own restaurant.

Arcadia will offer a wide variety of dishes and flavors, inspired by Mikel’s upbringing, and blended with his take on modern American cuisine. His dishes preserve their Vietnamese roots while surprising and delighting guests with contemporary twists. Arcadia strives to provide an inviting atmosphere with first-class service. Mikel’s commitment to quality and attention to detail ensures each guest leaves completely satisfied.
